BB Eloise // Death Stranding Fan Art

So this one is a bit strange. It started from a joke many months ago with my friend Theo Aretos and I. We thought that it would be cute to 3d scan his baby when she was born and put her in a BB case.
A few months later and heavy collaboration with Theo Aretos, this is what we came up with.
All modeling, textures, lighting and setup, including Baby Eloise and her pod, were created by me.
Concept, composition, reference, and constant sanity checks also provided by Mr. Aretos

Background mountains were made by my good friend Brandon Martynowicz https://www.artstation.com/bmart

Environment textures and props from MegaScan.

The final image. Rendered with Unreal Ray-tracing and Edited with Photoshop.

A huge benefit from using Unreal is how fast you can render animations.
I was even able to render out a few passes and comp them together in After Effects to get a better look.

Theo helped on every step of the process. Here are a few of his awesome composition explorations.

He also worked with his wife (Susie Aretos) to provide picture sets for the photo scanning process.
Turns out babies are NOT easy to work with. We had to make multiple scans and combine them all in Zbrush and Photoshop.

Theo and Susie also tried MULTIPLE times to get a clean baby hand print for the decals. Not as easy as it may seem!

Final combined face texture. This was based on many scans and some heavy Photoshop cleanup.

Final BB sculpt.
I was never super happy with the likeness, but I am an Environment Artist after all. The head was added to a free baby model I found online. The body was HEAVILY adjusted and sculpted during the process.

I suck at modeling, so this took WAY longer than it should have.
